SUMMERY OF THE TRIP
On this trip we found the meaning of "meow chicken", why you should not hire mopeds when you have never ridden them before, the meaning of the song "message in a bottle" and why you should go to Ibiza if your a proper clubber (otherwise that side of the night life is depressingly crap)!!!!
DRINKING:
Drinking made up a large part of the holiday!! It is not every day you can buy an orgasm or sex on the beach! It is also rare to get a vodka/red bull with more vodka than red bull but not in Kos! It's not likely to get free shots with every drink you buy in the UK either!! If you were seen back home drinking cocktails out of fish bowls people would laugh but this is all part of every day life in Kos. We had to as tourists be a part of the culture for our two weeks away, which was an interesting experience even though I don't remember an enormous amount about it for some reason!!!
BARS/CLUBS:
There were all kinds of bars for whatever mood you were in (normally a dinking one). We spent a lot of time at "Stone Roses" and "1969" which was on the square. We went for fish bowls on a regular bases at "The Funky Worm". "Taboo", "Jolly Rogers" and "Cheeky Monkey's" were our main haunts on the left side of the harbour. We went to this cheap cocktail bar a lot on the other side also although the name I do not remember. We also went along the main town centre strip a lot where music was played till late and everyone danced in the streets. Our best bar here was the "Kings Arms".
The two main clubs in Kardamena were "Starlight" and "Status". I went to Starlight 7 times, which included 3 foam parties. I went to Status just 2 times, as it was not so good. The music generally was all commercial and the mixing and tune progression was shit although it was fine for a pissed cheesy night out. The other main clubs in Kardamena were "Tropicana" and "zoom".
EATING:
We tried to make use of our self-catering facilities but soon realised that it was more hassle than it was worth because the food was really cheap when you ate out. Best places were this pizzeria called Kalia, which made really nice stone baked pizzas of your choice. The Chinese, kebab, and Indian restaurants near the 24-hour bar were all good also. There were several nice/cheap restaurants along the sea front but be careful here because we went to a few places where the food was dodgy and they tried to over charge!!!
CHILLING:
We spent a large part of our holiday in a recovery period where we slept in our beds until woken by the cleaners (bless those noisy buggers) and then made our way to lay on the pool side or beach in our zombie like states. After this incubation period we were ready for another night on the tiles!!!
THE REST:
We played a lot of pool and I found easy challengers including George, Alex and Nick N. There was a close battle with Nick H and I didn't get around to a rematch to prove myself. There was also a close battle in the doubles competition where I played with mat against the two Ali's. It was tough competition because Alison is Exeter University Pool Champion.
We had fun on bikes (and mopeds) and went on several trips and excursions. The were more than enough mosquito's to go around so no one felt left out in that department. Most of the single people had a bit of fun here and there with the opposite sex but Pierre beat all tallies made for sex (well done Pierre). Some people did sky screamers, Jet Ski's, etc which were also fun. There were several free cinema bars, which played all the latest films such as Evolution and Shreck.
